Start with the right Balearic island
For a one-week charter, Spain normally means choosing a focused Balearic route rather than trying to cover Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera in one trip. A Palma or southwest Mallorca start can combine sheltered coves, ports and town visits around Mallorca. An Ibiza start makes Ibiza and Formentera the natural focus, while Menorca works better as its own cruising area.

A relaxed route can alternate a short morning passage, a lunch anchorage and an afternoon leg to a harbour or protected overnight stop. The exact sequence should remain flexible because wind, sea state and berth availability can change the sensible plan.
Match the base to the experience
Choose Palma for the widest flight and provisioning choices, then compare the exact marina and handover time. Choose another island only when its cruising area is the real priority; the extra transfer can be worthwhile, but it changes the first and final sailing days.

Confirm the exact marina, boarding time and Friday return requirement before booking flights. “Palma” can refer to different marinas and transfer times, while an Ibiza or Menorca base creates a different route entirely.
Qualifications and skipper accommodation
Bareboat acceptance depends on the operator, the yacht and the named skipper’s documents and experience. Obtain written approval before committing. If you hire a skipper, confirm which cabin or berth is reserved for crew so the advertised capacity is not mistaken for comfortable guest accommodation.
Moorings, marinas and the total budget
Popular ports and anchorages can be busy in summer. Compare the charter fee with mandatory packs, deposit or waiver terms, fuel, provisioning and likely berth or buoy costs. Keep alternative stops in the plan rather than relying on one specific marina.

Can we include several Balearic islands in one week?
Sometimes, but longer crossings can dominate the itinerary. A focused plan with weather alternatives is usually more useful than a checklist that depends on ideal conditions.
