Šibenik sits at the mouth of the Krka, between the Kornati and the Split islands, with a modern marina in town and Primošten's Marina Kremik down the coast: a quieter start than Split with the same islands in reach.

Sailing yachts 34 to 50 ft and catamarans 38 to 45 ft; the Mandalina fleet is one of the largest in Dalmatia.
A typical week from Šibenik
Šibenik's channel opens onto the Kornati to the north and the Split islands to the south, so the week can go either way, or both with two weeks.
Day 1, Šibenik to Zlarin or Prvić (3 to 6 NM). The shortest first leg in Croatia: two car-free islands at the mouth of the channel, quays with restaurants, a swim before dinner.
Day 2, to Žirje or Kaprije (12 NM). Outer islands with anchorages in Tratinska or Muna; buy the Kornati ticket for the next day.
Day 3, into the Kornati, Opat or Vrulje (5 to 10 NM). The southern Kornati are closest from Šibenik; Opat's restaurant buoys sit under the bare ridge of Kornat.
Day 4, to Žut or Murter (10 NM). The ACI marina at Žut, or Betina and Jezera on Murter for a harbour village and a market.
Day 5, to Skradin (15 NM). Up the channel past Šibenik and the St Anthony strait to Skradin and the Krka falls.
Day 6, back to Mandalina (8 NM). A short morning leg leaves time for the old town and the cathedral.

Practical points for a Šibenik charter
Licences
Skipper's licence recognised in Croatia plus a VHF certificate aboard, checked at the base. Mandalina and Kremik both accept crew lists in advance, which shortens Saturday.
Wind and sea
The channel and the inner islands are sheltered; the Maestral reaches 10 to 18 knots in the afternoon outside. The Bura funnels down the Krka valley on unsettled days, so a Skradin night in a strong northeasterly is best moved. South of Rogoznica the coast is open to the southwest and the Jugo swell.
Moorings and fees
Kornati park tickets per boat per day; Krka park entrance for the falls. Mooring costs are similar to Split: marinas €60 to €120 a night for a 40 to 45 ft yacht in season, restaurant buoys free with dinner, anchorages free. The Mandalina marina has fuel, a chandlery and a supermarket delivery service.
Getting there
Split airport is 55 minutes from Mandalina and 35 from Kremik; Zadar airport 60 minutes. Transfers are cheaper than a Split marina taxi in August traffic.
Why Šibenik rather than Split or Zadar?
Fewer crews at check-in, the southern Kornati one day away, and the choice of north or south. The price of a yacht is usually the same as in Split.
Is the Kornati ticket worth it?
Yes for two nights; the park is the reason to sail here. Buy online the day before.
Can beginners do this?
The northern loop, yes: short legs and shelter. The southern loop to Vis needs a crew comfortable with a 25 NM open passage.
